Surprisingly there is no right number of dental visits per year . It has more to do with gum tissue and supporting bone and lesser to do with teeth . It varies for each person . Some can get away with once a year visit and some needs to sit in dental chair every 3-4 months. Permanent teeth are more vulnerable to decay soon after they have come through. So at the age of 6-8 years they need regular check-ups after the first permanent tooth erupts . In the teens , teeth are less vulnerable , unless wisdom tooth comes in your twenties, so the risk varies at different times of life.
